Each term converts a published hazard ratio into years with the effective-age method — years = ln(HR) / ln(1.1). The sum is clamped to ±10 years, and your first BIOS Age waits until there are 21 days of data to build it from.

Before you download.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. BIOS works with any Apple Health data, but most of the readings come from an Apple Watch — heart rate, sleep and workouts in particular. Cardio fitness needs a measured VO₂ max, which an Apple Watch records on outdoor walks and runs.

Where is my health data?

On your iPhone. Every number is computed on the device. BIOS makes no network requests: no account, no server, no analytics, no advertising. Nothing is uploaded, shared or sold, and BIOS never writes anything back into Apple Health. Calculated readings are stored in an app database on your iPhone, not in iCloud.

How is BIOS Age calculated?

Your calendar age, moved by five things the evidence supports — daily movement, resting heart rate, measured cardio fitness, sleep duration and strength training. Each term converts a published hazard ratio into years, names the study it came from, and the breakdown always sums to the headline. It is often compared with a “biological age” test, but it estimates nothing from blood or DNA — only from the habits your iPhone and Watch already record.

Can I rely on it for health decisions?

No. BIOS is for information only. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose anything, and it cannot see your medical history. Talk to a healthcare provider about health questions.

Is it free?

Yes. Everything in this version is free, and stays free. If BIOS ever adds a paid tier, it will be for things that come after — never for what is here now.
